EkinsDr. Sean Ekins is Director of Discovery Biology at Snowdon. Dr. Ekins brings over 10 years of preclinical DMPK, toxicology, and computational drug discovery research in large pharmaceutical (Lilly, Pfizer), biotechnology (Concurrent Pharmaceuticals) and informatics software companies (GeneGo Inc.). Sean graduated from Nottingham Trent University receiving a HND in Applied Biology, then moved on to the University of Aberdeen to receive his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology under Professor Gabrielle Hawksworth and most recently a D.Sc. in Science. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Lilly Research Laboratories in Dr. Steven Wrighton’s Laboratory. He has worked as a senior scientist at Pfizer, Senior Computational Chemist at Lilly Research Laboratories, Associate Director of Computational Drug Discovery at Concurrent Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and was Vice President of Computational Biology at GeneGo. He is currently Adjunct Professor, Department of Pharmacology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; and Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Maryland. He is also on the scientific advisory board for Emiliem Inc., ChemSpider and the advisory board for Chemical Informatics at Indiana University. He has authored or co-authored over 100 peer reviewed papers and book chapters as well as edited two books for Wiley Computer Applications in Pharmaceutical Research and Development and Computational Toxicology: Risk Assessment for Pharmaceutical and Environmental Chemicals, and has an ongoing book series for Wiley on Pharmaceutical Technologies. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Pharmacological and Toxicological Methods, and on the editorial board of many other reputed journals. His areas of interest are in vitro and computational ADME/Tox, systems biology, informatics, drug discovery, technology development and computer-aided drug discovery (CADD).

WoodDr. Richard D. Wood is the Director of Discovery Chemistry at Snowdon. Dr. Wood possesses extensive experience in New Jersey pharmaceutical companies including Cytogen. His career spans drug discovery in medicinal chemistry to management responsibilities in drug development. He earned the Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Cornell University and has spent over twenty years in pharmaceutical and biotech companies. His experience includes autoimmune research at CIBA-GEIGY, anti-infective research at Bristol-Myers, drug discovery and development research at SeaPharm, Inc., Georgetown University Medical School, Cytogen Corporation, Symphony Pharmaceuticals, Zynaxis-Cauldron, VectraMed, and Polymerix Corporation, and intellectual property consulting at Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. His scientific expertise spans the areas of chemical synthesis, medicinal chemistry, bio-organic analytical techniques, peptide synthesis, peptidomimetic synthesis, bioconjugation, and biodegradable polymer synthesis. He also has experience in GLP and cGMP practices, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, and chemical process development. Dr. Wood is a registered Patent Agent and has experience in the preparation and prosecution of patents. He is co-inventor on nine issued U.S. Patents.
