Programs in discovery and preclinical development
Four internal programs and one contract-funded program, as the company described them in 2011.
Preclinical
SND-121 · Neuropathic pain
Oral small molecule; positive results in rat models of neuropathic pain, with a mechanism distinct from opioids, NSAIDs, gabapentin and pregabalin. Prodrugs under study for solubility and GI permeability.
Discovery
SND-159 · Tuberculosis
Active against the TB bacterium, including an MDR-TB strain, in culture; also reduced viability of latent TB strains. Investigated alone and in combination with current TB drugs.
Discovery
SND-226 · Toxoplasmosis
Sub-100 nM inhibitory activity against T. gondii in laboratory studies; further work aimed at confirming results in animal models.
Early discovery
FXS program · Fragile X Syndrome
Early-stage discovery aimed at neurological disorders, including Fragile X Syndrome, the most common known cause of autism and autistic-like behaviours.
Preclinical development
Biowarfare pathogens · DTRA-TMT contract
A three-year contract, up to $8.2 million, for discovery and preclinical development of medical treatments against biowarfare pathogens, with UMDNJ-NJMS.
Lead program
SND-121 for neuropathic pain
The company’s preclinical lead compound has shown safety and efficacy when administered orally in rodent models of neuropathic pain, with a mechanism of action the company describes as distinct from opioid narcotics, NSAIDs, gabapentin and pregabalin.
Further preclinical work is underway on prodrugs of SND-121 with improved water solubility and GI permeability for better systemic uptake when taken orally.
Where the record stops
These are preclinical and discovery-stage programs as described on the company’s own site. No clinical trial results, regulatory filings or approvals are claimed here.
